How this works
A little about Mumentum
Read it whenever you like. There's no test at the end.
What is this?
A daily journal made just for you. You tap a few buttons — how you're feeling, how you slept, whether you've had a drink, whether you took your medication, and a small note if you want one. Over time it shows you what's working.
It is not a medical tool. It does not replace your doctor or your prescriptions. It is yours, for noticing.
Why this might help
Three small things tend to help when you're working through a stretch like this:
- Noticing your mood — even briefly — tends to lift it. The act of pausing to ask “how am I right now?” is the medicine, not the answer.
- Writing down what helped today (a walk, a phone call, the sun on your back step) makes those things easier to repeat.
- Seeing trends across weeks reminds you you're moving, even on the days that feel like nothing.
How to use it
Whenever it occurs to you. Once a day, twice a day, once a week — all fine.
- Open the app from your home screen.
- Tap How am I right now? at the top.
- Tap a mood number. Skip whatever you don't feel like answering.
- Tap Save this moment.
A whole check-in takes under a minute. You can also tap and speak your note instead of typing.
A gentle goal: aim for one check-in most days. Two or three on the days you feel like it. Zero on the days you don't. None of those are wrong.
What does “good” look like?
The honest answer: showing up. Not perfect days. Not a perfect streak. Not high mood scores all the time.
If you logged once last week and twice this week — that's good.
If your mood went down today — that's good information, not a failure.
If you missed three days in a row and came back — that's the most important kind of good.
You won't see a red “you missed your streak” warning here, ever. That's not what this is for.
Reading your dashboard
Tap the Progress tab to see your story building up.
- Mood trend — a soft line showing your average mood over the last 5, 15, or 30 days. The shape matters more than any single number.
- Average mood, brightest day, lower-alcohol days, good-sleep days — four small cards that summarise the window you're looking at.
- Positive evidence — quiet wins the app spotted for you. Streaks, gentle patterns, things worth noticing.
- Your story this week — a warm paragraph written for you, weaving together your check-ins and notes from the last fortnight.
The Mumentum score
A simple number out of 100. Higher is a brighter day; lower is a softer one. It blends your mood, sleep, alcohol, and a touch of anxiety.
It is not a medical score. Don't chase the number — just notice it. A 60 followed by a 50 followed by a 65 is not a setback; it's just the texture of being human.
Talking to James
There's a Talk to James button in Settings. Send him an idea, a question, or just hi any time. He'll get a buzz on his phone.
If he ships something you asked for, you'll see it on your home screen with a little “Your idea is here” card.
On a hard day
If your mood is very low or your anxiety very high, a soft Today sounds hard card appears at the bottom of your home screen. It has:
- Your trusted contact — set in Settings. One tap to call.
- 1737 — free, 24/7 mental wellbeing line for anywhere in New Zealand. Talk or text a trained counsellor.
- 111 — emergency services if you need help right now.
Your privacy
Your check-ins live on your phone first, and on a private database connected to your account. Only you and James can see them.
Notes you send to James go to his phone via a private bot. Nobody else sees them.
